Since they are so cheap, I can let my little kids (5 and 1 1/2 yr olds) run around with them so they can listen to their own music. I especially like them in the car.
takes one AAA battery and so far it's lasted a decent amount of time

Canon PIXMA MP495 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-In-One (4499B026) Review

(More customer reviews)The PIXMA MP495 is a fine printer with all-in-one features and WiFi capabilities. The driver and software installation, however, did not go so smoothly (Windows 7 x64). I can't imagine a layman going through the difficulty I went through getting WiFi working with this printer. But once it's configured, it works quite well.
Document Printing:
Funny enough, this is probably the least interesting part of the all-in-one. There's not much that can be said in this category. The MP495 is a very competent document printer with all the features you'd find in any inkjet printer. Paper loads from the back, so it's a bit more intuitive which side of the paper will be printed on, but it also means you need more space heightwise.
Photo Printing:
As a photo printer, the MP495 is both fast and high quality. I found that the supplied 'Photo Paper Plus Glossy II' sample paper outperformed some HP photo paper I had. And the MP495 outperformed another HP photosmart 385 printer I have in both speed and quality. So I am quite pleased with the performance here as I find this to be one of the major draws of this device. Canon claims about 86 photos from one Color ink cartridge. I have not owned the printer long enough to verify the accuracy of their claim.
Scanning:
I don't scan very often, but it's a very useful feature to have when you need it. In a scanner I look for speed, image quality and usable software. I'm quite pleased with the MP495's scanner capabilities. My test involved a sheet from a notepad that had a light gray watermark-like background. The scanner picked it up no problem. From initialization to scan completion took approx. 20 seconds, which I find adequate. There's a scan button on the printer, but pressing it doesn't do anything if the printer is hooked up via WiFi.
WiFi:
One of the main draws of this printer is its wifi capabilities. But since the printer has no controls on the device itself for configuring the connection to your likely secured WiFi access point, it must be configured through software installed on one of the computers on the network. Configuring the WiFi was a bit tricky. After repeated failed attempts, I figured out that the trick is to plug the USB cable (which they call a WiFi configuration cable) in at precicely the right point during setup -- during the detection phase. Plugging it in too soon seems to cause it to fail -- and I waited the first few times too. Regardless, this will no doubt be a hurdle for novices trying to configure this printer. I suggest having a competent computer person around while configuring the WiFi connection on this printer. With that being said, not having to have the printer close enough to my computer for the USB cable to reach is fantastic.
Software:
The software is not very impressive but adequate. There's a utility for managing your scans and OCR text conversion and all that good stuff. Canon boasts an automatic scanning feature that automatically detects the type of document being scanned. I tested it out and it seems to work well as far as being convenient. The software however lacks ability to open the file location in Explorer or even open the file using the default application. So that's quite annoying.
Included with the software is "MyPrinter" utility that allows you to connect to the printer and configure various options. It seems like nothing more than a shortcut to the printer properties utility included with windows. There's no options for configuring the WiFi connection in this utility. You must use the Setup program to do that -- something I find rather annoying since this is something you should easily be able to access without having to pop in the driver disc or dig up the setup utility.
If you decide to go with the Easy install instead of the custom install, the setup utility will dump some annoying shortcut toolbar application called Menu something or other. I removed it right quick.
There's also something Canon calls "Web Print Ex" which allows you to change the layout of web pages to print them out better. I didn't test this software out.
Cost:
At around $80, half the cost of this printer is in the ink. On Amazon, the ink for this printer seems to run around $17 for Black and $18 for Color. Canon reveals the following for ink life:

Note that I found this info on Canon's European site. The actual cartridge models are PG-210 and CL-211.
So even with those numbers, which are probably the upper bound, you're looking at around 19 cents per photo plus cost of paper. While the photo quality is excellent, I've ordered prints online for around 5 cents per photo. So the ink here is certainly expensive.

Rating the device itself on its merits alone, I give it 4 stars. Whether that ink cost is a major deterrent to you is really up to you.

(More customer reviews)Ok, I got these speakers because I loved the little digital receiver and the tight bass sound, even though I already have a Creative I-itrigue L3800 computer speakers. First off, the built quality is great and sound quality is phenomenal for a sub/equal to $[...] speakers. The four cubes design is very modern, small and compact. The digital receiver you see in the picture is the same size as the speakers cube. The tiny subwoofer is one of the best out there.
Sound comparisons:
I am going to compare this to my older L-itrigue 3800 that is my standard for computer speakers. I am playing this off a Sound Blaster's Fatality sound card. The L-itrigue is much better overall for sound. It produced excellent high and mid range sound, but good bass. This NXPS1 produced excellent low (bass) and midrange, but only good high. The NXPS1 is a better choice for hip-hop, rap and drum and bass Jazz (Boney James), since the bass is a lot tighter and sounds fuller. I prefer vocal, trance/dance, classical jazz, rock and the I-itrigue is way better. You can hear the vocals (S. Brightman) for rock (Duran) and alternative (Bush, Travis) music much cleaner on the Creative, but kind of muggy on NXPS1. Other music like new age (Engima), trance/ techno (PVK), lounge (St. Germaine) music, and some jazz also perform much better on the I-itrigue with better high, so you get more ambient atmosphere: chiming. The I-trigue bass crack at higher (max) volume then the JVC. The JVC power output is similar to Creative, but seems get much louder, both are powerful enough for computer use.
Features:
JVC hands down is better or cooler, but there are some features that bugged me. First, this is designed for iPods, but only support 4th and 5th generation iPod, so my 3rd or 2nd generation iPod from 2004 will not work. This is also listed in the user manual. The USB audio on the back of the receiver produce a max. of 16bit 48000 Hz, which is a joke, the sound is so flat compare to my Sound blaster card max sound rate of 24bit 192000 Hz. This will produce a higher sound fidelity/range. So I have to run my cable from the sound card to the front panel of the AUX input. The USB memory card will read mp3 sound excellently, but doesn't read my napster's wma. The JVC receiver has more features then the Creative one, like the USB and IPod input, both have headphone and AUX input. JVC has play, pause, stop buttons and a digital track on the receiver that works for the USB memory, but doesn't affect my iPod at all, nor does the remote. Both have a mini remote that looks like they were manufacture from the same factory, but JVC has 2x the buttons on it. Also the JVC have a digital timer, sleep and timer, which only a few sub-100 speakers has.
I think the JVC is a great overall speaker for sound and features. Too bad the Creative I-itrigue 3800 sound is a little better, but most people can't really tell. I will keep both for now.

NeatDesk Desktop Scanner and Digital Filing System- Macintosh Review

(More customer reviews)I really really really wanted to like this scanner. I received the unit on Friday and had planned on spending Saturday scanning in all my documents and then relaxing on Sunday. I am sooooo disappointed with the quality of the scans and software when scanning in documents like car insurance or doctors statements that I am sending it back.
The main issue is that the manufacture's web site states that the scanner can scan grayscale and B/W documents in at a rate of 25 PPM. This is an outright lie on one level and a stretching of the truth on another level.
First let me start off with the truth stretching. The scanner is very fast while scanning in B/W images but it did not seam like it was 25 PPM fast so I timed it using a stop watch. I was able to scan in a page (two sides) in 6.4 seconds that's 10 PPM not 25! As Fujitsu rates their ScanSnap S1500M at 20 PPM whether you scan one or two sides, I assumed I would see the NeatDesk scanner do the same. Thinking that they (NeatCo) must have been playing with some slick marketing numbers when they came up with the 25 PPM rate I figured I would see the 10 PPM rate double to 20 if I only scanned one side of a page instead of two. I was very disappointed to see that the rate did not change between one or two sides. Normally I would think that 10 PPM is a very quick scan, which it is, but it is more than half as fast as advertised.
That was the truth stretching now onto the lie.
My main complaint is not the scan rate of B/W or grayscale scans. I would be very happy with a 10 PPM grayscale document scanner. The problem is that the scanner / software package does NOT scan in grayscale. The scanner DOES send the images to my iMac in GRAYSCALE and then the horrible software converts it to B/W. Yes you heard me right! They take a perfectly legible (8 bit, 256 levels of black) grayscale image and turn it into a very poor quality B/W (2 bit, 2 color) illegible image. I can't for the life of me understand why they would do such a thing.
If you are only interested in scanning in receipts, which by their nature are only black and white, then you might be happy with the software. Unfortunately about 95% of the stuff I wanted to scan is various types of documents / kids school work / insurance papers / medical records etc. If you have ever looked at these kinds of documents you will notice that most of them have shaded areas on the page that highlight important text. These shaded areas, along with the text, usually become unreadable when converted to B/W. Not only can I not able to read them the OCR can't detect them either. It makes me angry to see a scan show up on the screen that looks GREAT only to have it destroyed a few seconds later by the software as it converts it to black and white.

I contacted NeatCo about the ability to scan to grayscale. Their support person was very nice and polite; unfortunately she confirmed for me that the software does not support grayscale. Her response is at the end of the review.You may think that I should just scan in color. Unfortunately scanning in color is very slow. A color scan took 15 seconds for a single sided page and 27.5 seconds for a single 2-sided page (weird that color scans do double the time for 2 sides unlike the BW option). At this rate it puts color scans in at 2 PPM not the 8.5 reported on their web site. At 2 PPM it will take me several hundred hours to scan everything I need to scan.
The quality of color scans is very good if you are willing to wait 30 seconds for a single 2-sided scan.
Here are my timing results for the BW, color, 1 side and 2 sided document. All times are for a single sheet of paper.

I have taken some screen shots of the grayscale images before they are converted to BW and will try to post them to Amazon. In the screen shots you can see that the initial image looks very nice. If NeatCo fixes this issue the package might be worth a look.Here is the NeatCo response to my grayscale question.

(More customer reviews)Received this item yesterday and had to scramble in the basement for an old power adapter off a dead hdd enclosure, but once that was wired up, I connected my iPod Touch using Apple's composite AV cable, and all was well. I didn't see an obvious way to switch between AV inputs on the display itself, having instead to use the supplied remote, but that's not a huge deal. Only one dead pixel, but I can hardly complain about that at this price point.

Sennheiser CX 680 Sports Earbuds with Volume Control and Earfin Holding System Review

(More customer reviews)I have been on a quest for a new pair of earphones for weeks. I have spent countless hours reading hundreds of reviews on various models. My main criteria (in order of importance) were: 1) Don't fall out when doing strenuous exercise like running, 2) Won't cease functioning or experience a decrease in functionality due to sweating (I sweat profusely when exercising, e.g., my clothes are normally drenched after an hour of cardio), 3) Comfort, 4) Price, 5) Sound quality, and 6) Appearance/Style.
Based on all that I read, I decided that the new Adidas-branded Sports line from Sennheiser might be the best option for me, so I splurged, got the CX680 at a big box store, and decided to test them since I knew I could return them for a full refund within 30 days if not satisfied. If I liked them I knew I could purchase online for 25-30% less. Note that I prefer the in-ear design, but was also considering the neckband design of the PMX680 as an alternate. However, I was hoping to find one pair that I could use for cardio, weightlifting, leisure, and travel.
First, I will explain what comes in the package. You get:
(1) SYMMETRICAL earphones with a 30" cord and a straight jack
(2) a 24" extender with a volume control on one end and an "L" jack on the other
(3) a Velcro carrying pouch
(4) 3 sets (S,M,L) of earfins, 1 set of M covers w/o fins, and 3 sets (S,M,L) of earbud covers
(5) a clip
(6) a cleaning tool
My assessment of each of these components:
(1) Short Cord: Used w/o the extender, the earphones are best worn using an armband (either arm is fine due to the symmetrical cord) with the cord clipped to the shirt on whatever side the armband is to reduce tension on the opposite side earbud. I ran for 1.5 hours last night with the cord clipped this way to the collar of a T-shirt. It stayed in place the entire time and was completely unobtrusive.
(2) Extender: The volume control is very light and can be clipped to the band of your shorts w/o adding noticeable weight. With my iPod Nano clipped to one side, the volume control on the other, and the cord beneath my shirt, there was some cord slack (I'm 5'8"), but the movement was not excessive and not disruptive. The wheel of the volume control has a slight resistance to it so that you won't mistakenly blast out your eardrums while adjusting it.
(3) Pouch: The pouch is good quality and roomy enough to hold the earbuds and a small music player. However, the cords do tend to become entangled easily.
(4) Earbuds/Earfins: With some trial and error I was able to find the right combination of fin and earbud that fit comfortably and didn't fall out with movement or sweat. I've had more difficulty finding the correct fit for my L ear, but even during a 1.5 hour run I only had to adjust the bud once b/c the fin had moved (Note that the earbud itself was still firmly sealed).
(5) Clip: As mentioned above, the clip work great when attached to a collar and probably would also with a hem. I tried to use it in the middle of my shirt and it simply fell off. There's a groove on the top that seemingly is supposed to hold the wire but it does not; you simply have to clip the wire along with the clothing.
(6) I have yet to use the cleaning tool.
Now on to how the CX680 ranks using my criteria.
(1) Fit & Staying Power, 5/5: These things stay put. I've had the stock earbuds which do not fit my ears well, fall out with movement or sweat, and sound crappy. I would imagine that most people should be able to find an earfin/earbud combination that fits them well. I like that this product is customizable rather than one-size-fits-all.
(2) Sweat Resistance, 5/5: More than any other pair of earbuds I've owned, these seem to be unaffected by sweating. They do not loosen when sweat is in the ears and their rubberized materials seem especially sweat "proof". I have not yet tried to put them in water. I would hope that these do not as easily succumb to the issues common with other earphones that seem less sturdy/durable. Even if they do fail at some point, at least with Sennheiser you have their 2 year warranty (another reason I chose these over something with only a 90 day warranty).
(3) Comfort, 5/5: I don't even notice I've wearing them.
(4) Price, 3/5: These certainly are not the cheapest earphones on the market, but they are new and will likely come down in price. The cheapest I've found is $70 online with free shipping. I would highly recommend buying them locally, seeing if they work for you, and then returning them and buying them for cheaper online. If you've got something that works for you now, I'd say wait for the price to drop on these. If money is no concern, just buy them!
(5) Sound quality, 3/5: I'm not an audiophile and I didn't get these b/c I wanted the best sounding buds, and they're not. I listen exclusively to electronic music and they're OK, but slightly lacking in bass. Not sure if "tinny" or "muddy" are the correct terms, but I've thought that my music sounded better with JBuds J2s (but they would fall out when I'd sweat and shorted out after a year), with Acoustibuds attached to stock earbuds (these sound great and actually stay pretty well during movement and sweating but they're bulky, have to be twisted into the ear canal, and it's challenging to find the sweet spot as far as the "best" position for maximum effect), or with over-the-head models (these offend my sense of fashion). The CX680s are not bad, just not the greatest sounding, but I'm willing to sacrifice on music quality to eliminate them moving around, falling out, or breaking b/c of sweat damage.
(6) Appearance, 4/5: I don't know why Sennheiser thinks it necessary to make their Sports lines in bright, obnoxious colors (neon green, orange, and now yellow), instead of more muted grays, blacks, or whites, but these are OK. I'm not using them to win any fashion contests, and they're more appealing, IMO, than the neckband, over-the-ears, or over-the-head models.
In summary, I give the CX680s a 4/5: They're great for what they're intended (i.e., reduction of slippage due to movement and/or sweat), but could sound better, be less expensive, and reduce the flashy factor. I would also have preferred an asymmetrical cord design so that the earphones could be used w/o the clip when using an armband. Before my 30 day "trial" period is over, I will be returning these to Big Box Store and purchasing them online. Hopefully they will prove to be a good investment and a solution to the annoyance of finding the best earphones for sweaty cardio freaks like me.

Memorex Home Audio System with iPod Dock and CD Player (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)My dad's entertainment center takes up almost an entire wall of our house. The stereo system alone consists of about 3/4 of the space. Two huge speakers flank the TV; an entertainment rack has a turntable (aka record player, if anyone even knows what those are anymore), an old CD player from the late 90's (will not recognize CD-RWs or mp3 CDs), a tuner, an amplifier, and a cassette deck (another obsolete piece of equipment).
Why am I bringing this up? Well, Memorex realizes that the times have changed and have changed to bring you all that equipment in a much smaller package: meet the Memorex Home Speaker System for Ipod. This handy dock has not only an iPod dock (and charging station!) but AM/FM radio and a CD-RW/mp3 CD changer (nice addition, may I add!).
Firstly, I really enjoyed the price. Bose docks cost almost triple of the Memorex price, and I think while the quality of the Memorex is no where near the Bose, I find that it is adequate for my purposes. The unit is pretty compact and doesn't stick out, which is great as I stick it directly on the floor. I haven't quite gotten the FM radio to sound as good as I would like, but there is a cord for FM radio reception and I'm sure if I play with it, I can get better quality. Also, the remote takes some getting used to, but it is sure nice to be able to remotely access music, switch from iPod to radio or CD or change the volume. What is also nice is this unit comes with a bass and treble modifier, which seems to work rather nicely. Also, there is a clock (nice feature!), a sleep (great for going to bed to!), and a timer, which I haven't used yet.
Overall, I am very pleased with the Memorex. It has provided what I needed (i.e. iPod dock with CD changer and radio) at a fairly low cost. I would recommend.
NOTE (7/13/09): I recently moved the unit to the counter in the kitchen of my apartment and it works amazingly! The unit is loud enough to carry into the living room, dining room and even slightly into the bedroom. The only problem I still have is the remote, which requires to be pointed very particularly at the unit in order to work.

Corsair Cooling Hydro-Series All-in-One High-Performance Liquid CPU Cooler CWCH60 Review

(More customer reviews)As I was researching heatsinks for my new i7 setup, I cam across a few all-in-one water cooling kits. After a short time looking at reviews, it was clear that this was the best of the bunch as far as all-in-one water cooling kits are concerned. What really drew me towards this unit, is the size and weight. After using a TRUE Ultra 120 Extreme in my last setup, I was weary of buying another due to the size and weight. You can actually see the heatsink slightly bending the motherboard when the case is stood up. Not only that, the heatsinks are huge! So big in fact, I had to remove a 120mm fan just to get it to fit in an 830 stacker case. Also, there is much less room to work with when installing one of these huge heatsinks.
So after using the Corsair H50 for a month now, here are my thoughts:
Pros: Very easy to install, light compared to heatsinks, easy to work with in the case since it is smaller than a heastsink, radiator is small enough to work with as well, and great temps(see below for specs & temps)
Cons: Liquid in the case has always scared me, but Corsair gives you a two year warranty and I have read on their forums that the pump in these things will last for many years past the warranty. Possible leaks, but again, Corsair says this thing will not leak and after looking at how the thing is put together, I believe them. At least it won't leak in the lifetime you have it in the system.
Other thoughts: The directions tell you to pull air in from the case by mounting the fan/radiator to the inside back of the exhaust port. I actually did it different. I had it in a push/pull configuration. I push air from the inside, through the radiator and then pull the air through with a second fan on the outside of the back exhaust port.
Temps: I have an i7 920 overclocked to 3.2GHz and my idle temps are 37/35/37/33c. Load temps are 59/57/58/55c with an ambient room temperature of 73F.

I had remembered to pack my Garmin 755T unit Garmin nuvi 755T 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator and the lighter socket power cord. However, I had totally forgotten the windshield mount. "No problem", I thought, "I'll just toss it on the dash." Well, there are a bunch of problems with that.
* The GPS flew all over the dash whenever I took a turn or hit a bump
* There's no way to plug the power cord into the GPS without this unit
I expected the first problem, but not the second. So I ordered this and had it shipped overnight to my hotel. Amazon came through and I had the mount the next morning. Works great!
If you have a 2nd car, this makes the transfer somewhat easier. If you also get a 2nd power cord to go with it, you're really golden. You can then just pop the GPS out and in with zero effort.

(More customer reviews)When searching for a new mp3 player the trail always leads me back to Sony. Its more about overall quality then brand loyalty. Over the years Sony's Walkman line has gone the distance and more. After picking up the Sony S545 16GB for myself, I bought this model for my little one.
The S-544 8gb Walkman brings it on with a crisp, color enhanced 2.4" LCD screen that is easy on the eyes. At 2" x 4" x .4", it comes in a bit larger then its older cousin. A larger body undoubtedly is required to provide support for the external speaker system. The speakers won't get confused with my home system anytime soon but they do provide an excellent source. With headphones on, this mp3 player delivers a cornucopia of sound. Missing but not that noticeable is the noise reduction feature. The on board equalizer can be tweaked to one's own preferences or users can choose one of the six presets.
The Navigation pad located directly under the screen is a breeze to operate. Three controls are located on the right side of the unit. One locks in the controls. The second one allows for easy switching from speaker to headset. Volume is the third control. The standard headphone jack and a USB port can be found on the bottom of the unit. The detachable flip out stand is an okay feature that allows for easy standing on my desk or shelf top. I would have preferred that it was permanently mounted.
The S-544 supports mp3, mp4, AAC, AVC, WMV, WMA, and PCM. PCM is Sony's version of WAV. It pairs well with Napster. Rhapsody is a no go. Downloading my playlists from Windows Media Player was a breeze without the usual hiccups associated with older mp3 players. Photo display is crisp but unlike my older Walkman, wallpaper display is a no go.
The built in FM tuner picked up all ten of my stations. With auto scanner functionality, thirty preset slots are available. The FM radio is crystal clear when using the headset as an antenna. The alarm and timer features are a nice add on. This model also has an impressive on board microphone located on the bottom of the unit. There are three voice settings. Voice playback quality was excellent. Battery life has always been biggie with Sony. On a full charge, I got almost a full thirty five hours of music.
This Sony mp3 player comes packaged with a USB cable, flip stand, ear buds, installed operating manual, and the standard one year warranty. Body finishes for the 8GB model include; black, red, pink and violet. The 16GB unit comes in a black or red body.
Economically priced, this latest edition to the Walkman line is a durable and reliable product that simply delivers. Easy to use and loaded with features, the Sony S-544 is a prime time performer.

(More customer reviews)I just received this product an hour ago and I'm already in love with it. I have an iPod touch 1st generation and I was concerned that it wouldn't work since I purchased another controller that did not work with it.
I'm happy to report that this product has exceeded my expectations. It lets me have full access to the songs on my iPod without having to open and unlock it, and it also lets me select playlists, artists, songs and albums with simple buttons that are self-explanatory. It also lets you control volume without having to chance the iPod volume at all.
Then you just push the mode button and you get the FM transmitter. It gets most of the main stations, though there were a few I couldn't get, but the strong ones come in clear with only a little static when the signal cuts out like when I go into a closet for something. It has four presets that you can change and easily switch between your favorite stations. My favorite feature is that it displays what song you're listening to on the radio, with the title and the artist, along with the radio station you're listening to (by name, KIIS-FM, not just 102.7, though it lists that, too).
Another thing I was concerned about was it draining the battery on my iPod, but it doesn't drain it any quicker than it would to play regular music straight from my iPod touch. I've been playing the radio for an hour now and using all the buttons and the battery is still 100% full.
This is a quality product which exceeds my expectations and is reasonably priced. I would recommend this product to anyone with an iPod touch or an iPhone. Already I don't know what I did without it.

(More customer reviews)I have purchased a number of wireless speaker systems (such as EOS) EOS 100T1R Wireless Audio System with Universal iPod Docking Base and Remote Speaker (White). The Sound quality was modest, and, they were tempermental as far as setup.
This system, however, at a more economical price, provides a good to very good sound quality combined with flexibiity, ease of use, and, ease of setup.
When this arrived, I dredded having to "assemble" it, and, set it up. My fears were unfounded. Right out of the box, I just plugged in the speakers, used the RCA jack to receive auxilliary output from my computer's sub-woofer speaker back Logitech G51 Surround Sound 5.1 Speaker System (Black) , plugged the 3.5 mm jack into the small transmitter, and, started playing music through the remote speakers. My idea of easy setup is being able to get something to work, the way I want it to work, without having to look at the manual. This has easy setup by my toughest definition of "easy."
There is an "auto-tune" button on these so that once you plug them in, they will automatically tune into the transmitter. You don't have to go through a complicated "tuning" ceremony like many wi fi speaker systems require.
Since the transmitter will plug directly into the RCA outputs from my computer, instead of having to have an iPod adapter, I can just use iTunes directly on my computer to have virtually the same access to my music library as if I was playing from my iPod.
In addition, I could plug the transmitter into my streaming HP media extender HP X280N MediaSmart Connect and play music directly from my backup server from Windows media player playlists.
The range is good as I can place the speakers out by my spa in the woods and they receive broadcasts from the transmitter with little interference.
One other advantage to this system is that the transmitter is not coded to any particular speaker. Once you set up the very simple and inconspicuous transmitter, you can have an unlimited number of the speakers tune into the broadcast frequency.
Why Pink? I support breast cancer awareness. I also like the pink for the hot tub as it tends to provide a little color during snowstorms in the winter. This is also a great color for speakers in my guest rooms for lady friends. And, I like pink!

(More customer reviews)I had bought an earlier version of a Clickfree backup device a couple of years ago and used it on my PC. Unfortunately, when I switched to my iMac, the device no longer worked, as it was not Mac-compatible back then. I passed the old unit on to my wife, who uses it with her PC now.
I just received this updated model today. The unit is small (nice for transporting) and is PC and Mac compatible. The unit has a USB plug with a short cable built right into the back of the unit but Clickfree also supplies a 32" USB cable, if you want a longer cable. Nice! I plugged the unit into my iMac and the device immediately recognized that it was connected to a Mac. It asked if I wanted to reformat the unit for the Mac and I said OK. Within seconds, the unit was reformatted for my Mac and started the countdown until my initial backup started. I clicked on the Options button, to see what the unit was programmed to back up and found that, by default, it was pre-programmed to back up my entire user folder, which includes all of my music, pictures, movies, documents, etc. You also have the option to choose exactly what you want backed up, should you elect not to back up your entire user folder. After agreeing to back up my entire user folder, the unit checked my iMac and reported how many of each type of file it had located on my hard drive. It then immediately started the initial backup. The progress window shows exactly which files are being backed up as the backup continues. Long story short, I backed up over 330,000 files in what I considered a very short amount of time. When the initial backup was finished, it showed how many files of each type had been backed up and explained that, from now on, when the unit is plugged in, it will only back up files that have not previously been backed up. Sweet!
After having a bad experience with a commercial offsite backup company, which I had used flawlessly for a few years with my PC before switching to a Mac, this unit is perfect for my backup needs. Being a Mac user, my iMac backs up my files every hour onto an external hard drive with Time Machine (built into OS X) but, with my Clickfree C2 backup unit, I don't have to worry about losing both my built-in hard drive AND my backup (Time Machine) drive, should disaster strike. I know that all of my data is backed up onto a device that isn't always connected to my computer.
I highly recommend this product for both PC and Mac users.

We live in a quiet neighborhood with very little wireless activity so that isn't the reason this thing sounds so bad. It's just terrible implementation. If I were you, just plug in your Ipod or Iphone into the SD 10. Please don't buy this. I am normally a huge Bose fan, but this time they really dropped the ball.
I tried everything including calling Bose and they admitted that you are going to notice "some" loss in quality. They need to go back to the drawing board with this one. I am normally a fan of Bose products, but seriously?? Last thing, they say you get 30 ft. distance with this. Nope, literally within 15 feet, the music cuts out and sounds like pure static. Don't do it, I warned you.

This means this cord will work with any of the current audio devices you have that have a standard 3.5mm jack. The only difference between the input jack on the iPhone and any other MP3 player is that the iPhone jack is deeper, more recessed in than normal. Cord is well constructed and very sturdy. I use it in my Camry and the sound is excellent.

(More customer reviews)This is by far the best Bluetooth speakerphone I've tried. People tell me they can't tell I am in the car. Even at highway speeds, it doesn't pick up any background noise at all. I have this mounted to the visor of my SUV. The only problem is because the roofline is high, I was told I sounded soft. I flipped the visor down about 3 inches (it doesn't obstruct my view at this height) and the sound is now fantastic I'm told. I've tried many speakerphones and this one is the best by far. It has a mechanical slide on/off switch so you can leave it off and flip it on instantly when the phone rings. No delay or missed calls while holding down an on/off button. It also has a mute button and volume up and down buttons. It gets sufficiently loud and sounds good and clear. I'd recommend this over any speakerphone at any price. Best of all it was under fifty bucks at Amazon!

(More customer reviews)Bought these speakers to use in my mail truck, which is very noisy. These speakers last 4-5 hours, even at near/max output. Since they are small, they lack deep base, but for what they are, they have high quality sound, and seem to be quality built. Used them several times a week for several months. They do a decent job with music (base lack is only issue), and great with spoken word, no distortion at all that I can hear, even at max volume. Compact, and charge off any usb port. Charge completely from drained to full in about 2 hours when connected to my computer.

I was pleased when the product arrived in a timely manner and in good condition. I've heard that people were having issues connecting to the android market but I didn't have any problems at all. I downloaded a few apps already. I was able to connect to my home network and surf the web in less than 2 minutes. Android takes a bit of getting used to if you are like me and more familiar with an iphone. The only complaints I have are the RAM is a bit on the low side. A way to help that problem is downloading an app killer from the market to quit the apps that are running in the background. The more apps that are running in the background the slower the device becomes. Also, the touch screen isn't quite as good as I'd like but the device is all in all pretty good.

(More customer reviews)There are two parts to this system: there is the software you install and use on your computer, and there is the "hardware" the color checker you use when you're photographing and to which you reference the software.It is a system that speeds up your workflow, increases your accuracy and efficiency, and leaves you with prints you can be proud of.
Before I go on, let me clarify that I use this system with Photoshop ACR, not with Lightroom. Since the software does not install as a Plug-In to Photoshop (as it does with Lightroom), I have to use it as a "stand-alone" program. This isn't a hardship, but it is a distinction, and my review is based on this scenario only.
Another important fact is that for the purposes of creating profiles, this program requires that at least the profile-generating image be in .DNG so, whatever program you use to process your RAW captures has to be able to save as .DNG.
The process is simple: you shoot a series of photographs under a particular set of circumstances; you select one that is typical of the conditions present in the whole series; you save it as a .DNG; you open the "stand alone" Passport program; you open that representative image and tell it to create a profile based on it; you give the profile a descriptive name. The profile it creates will automatically appear in the camera profile drop-down menu in the Camera Calibration tab within ACR. You open the rest of the images in ACR and apply the profile to all of them as the first step in your RAW processing.
So far, I have successfully created two profiles for one of the cameras. It will be necessary, over time, to create a separate profile for each shooting situation for each camera. For example, on my Nikon D-80, I shot the color checker under "indoor, bounced flash" conditions. I created that profile. I then opened the 22 images that I shot under those conditions and applied the profile to them as the first step as soon as I entered ACR. Sure enough, on my calibrated monitor, the colors were right on target. I had the right shade of deep red, the right shade of aquaish-blue, and a perfect capture of skintone for each different person (and this was a diverse group). Additional adjustments in the basic tab were needed later but, starting from an appropriate profile, I could apply batch settings and only tweak individual shots lightly. I waited to write the review until I was able to make prints of the images that looked so great on the monitor and, sure enough, they look great when printed as well. I'm absolutely delighted.
I would say that the time saved is considerable. For an advanced amateur, like me, it's definitely worth it. For a large-volume professional, it is probably essential. Not only do you save time in the processing part of the equation, you also save money by not having to reprint.
Of course, the matter of creating camera-specific varieties of profiles can be time-consuming, but you don't have to do it all at once. You create them as the need arises and then you have them there for all subsequent matching situations.
The unit also comes with non-profile related swatches. Among them it has several intensities of neutral grays to help you quickly establish white point or check for clipping, and several artistic interpretation swatches designed for changing the color temperature of your photograph to make it progressively warmer (more golden) or cooler (more blue) than it really was. The latter are further broken up into cooling or warming for people or for landscape pictures. (Really, very well thought out.) There is also a white balance swatch/card that will come in handy in mixed-lighting situations. Though I haven't had to use it yet, it's very handy to have it in the same unit that I'm carrying along anyway.
The only factor on the minus side is that you have to really struggle to find information, instructions, and explanations of the procedure, features and swatches. The process is absolutely straightforward once you understand it, but getting there is a struggle. The X-Rite company website is badly organized and of very little help (I already knew that since I own their eye-one calibration software which still hasn't been updated for Windows 7).
The "for more information click here" link in the interface takes you to a dead end. The CD has totally-irrelevant "training modules" that deal with general calibration issues with no reference to this product. The zipped "online tutorial" that has to be downloaded from within the interface takes five minutes to download using DSL and requires Flash Player. When you register the product, they send you another link to download the same online tutorial again as a "thank you" gift. I believe your best bet is the written documentation PDF (on the standalone proram it is in the help menu>documentation). It is 59 pages long, well-illustrated and rambles a bit (but, so far, everything I wanted to find was there). Make sure you check it out before starting and be amazed at the difference in your images.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item, the Maxell BR-LC Blu-ray Lens Cleaner, and it was delivered on October 27th, 2009 along with other items in a rather medium sized order. I purchased it after having done some research through Google and various electronic/gaming websites for the best lens cleaner to use on a Sony PS3. This item was highly recommended.
Backstory: I have one of the last model backwards compatible PS3s sold new on the market, an 80GB model. The PS3 worked flawlessly throughout the first year and one month of owning the system as I was able to throw just about any media I wished into the slot drive and play it. Shortly after the release of Resident Evil 5 the PS3 started to not read discs correctly. I had purchased Resident Evil 5 one weekend after release date and could not play it as the PS3's drive would not read the disc correctly. I went through all the steps; backup, format, install. Called Sony, called Capcom, each blamed the other. Sony wanted $150 plus shipping to service the unit.
As I am usually inclined to do I found a workaround: if I played a PlayStation2 disc or a DVD in the unit for 30 minutes then all Blu-rays would read just fine after that. Load time was still horrible, anywhere up to five minutes for the disc to show up in the XMB, but it worked. I have been doing this ever since.
Salvation at Hand: I received this item and immediately opened the package. It comes in a nice Blu-ray style case so that it matches the rest of your collection. The instructions are on both the back of the case and under the disc itself. The holes on the disc are a bit smaller than one would expect until you realize that to safely clean and not cause any skip during spin the holes would need to be that size.
My PS3 had been off all night and had not been turned on at all. I hit the PS button on the Sony Bluetooth Remote (not a DualShock 3) and booted the unit. After the XMB came up I inserted the cleaner disc. It mounted very quickly showing that it was indeed a DVD and not a Blu-ray disc. I hit "enter" and away the disc went.
While the visuals that play during the cleaning process are nothing to write home about they also aren't bad. They are something to look at while the disc does the job it is supposed to do. The visuals depict the cleaning of the lens, and how it is accomplished, by using simple computer animated CG workflow. After about four minutes, give or take, the cleaning process was complete.
(There are other standard options on this disc such as audio testing for both 5.1 and 2.0 speakers. They are a welcome inclusion but as stated they are pretty much standard on all lens cleaning discs.)
I ejected the disc and promptly inserted Batman: Arkham Asylum into the PS3. Not more than seven seconds passed before the disc was mounted and ready to launch. The stuttering issues that I had been having during the game, especially when entering a new area that required a disc read, were gone.
Later in the day, around eight hours of shutoff time, I booted the PS3 once again. I inserted a copy of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Again the disc mounted in record time and has played flawlessly. All media I could play when the unit was under one year old now plays again.
The Maxell BR-LC Blu-ray Lens Cleaner does what it is intended to do without any qualms. I paid less than $15.00 for the item here on Amazon, but even if it were to go up to $40 it would be a very wise investment for anyone who owns a PS3 or Blu-ray player. Even those who do not but want to keep the integrity of the lens of their DVD units should purchase and use this item. It works perfectly and does not need to be replaced as there are no brushes to wear down. This should be your first and will be your last Lens Cleaning solution for your electronics.

Streaming movies from the web to my PC was lame because I only have a 19" LCD, but they look great with this product on my TV. Netflix streaming through my PS3 was really poor quality compared to the browser based one as well. I also like that I can put together a slide show of my pictures and let the entire family view it on the TV which having to crowd around my computer to see them on my monitor. The best part is the ability to be doing something else on my regular monitor while the the TV shows the movie/youtube/pictures at the same time.

(More customer reviews)The redial options on this phone are infuriating. If a call comes in from out of state, you have to hit a button to enter the "1" yourself. I keep forgetting to do this because the name and phone number without the "1" appear and on a cell phone I can hit redial and it works just fine. When I redial without entering "1", I'm connected to a local number comprised of the first 7 digits displayed. I've now dialed the same wrong number repeatedly aggravating all involved.
Before dialing you can also hit a button to add/delete the area code. I've mis-dialed as result of this feature, too. All in all, it's a very counter-intuitive design.
The caller ID history takes a long time to load, and I often reach for either the volume buttons or the stored phone numbers button instead.
The voicemail button either doesn't reset after I've checked the voicemail or doesn't indicate that a voicemail has come in.
When I first got it, it wouldn't work at all. The instructions don't indicate what to do as a result--I had to go to their website to find an answer. It refers you to the manual where the solution isn't worded to correspond with the problem: you need to figure out that the problem occurring is somewhat similar to what's being described.
The instructions claim the phone will be charged after "about 15 hours." It wasn't charged after 24.
It's got a number of features like extra ring tones or letting any key answer a call but gets the basics wrong.
Cordless phones have been around for what, 30+ years? How hard can it be to make one that's user-friendly and well designed?

That installation is easy, you simply plug in the HDMI cables. I had XM running on the sound system for my home music. Recently found Pandora, and love that it provides music and NO taking like XM has become. I was a little nervous when I saw the previous reviews on this item. But, I had the right receiver so it should work?! The installation began with me on the floor with the iPod in the Onkyo UP-A1 and the wife ready to call out instructions. I plugged the cord into the Universal Port in the receiver, turn on the iPod and pushed the receiver's 'Port' selector and the music began to playing through the system. It could not be more simple. (More customer reviews)So I've been trying to find a decent weather radio. One that you can disable certain alerts, one that pays attention to EOM (end of message) and one that doesn't look like junk sitting on the kitchen counter.
So far I've been blown away with the quality of this radio. Everything from the button feel to the LCD display is excellent. Surprisingly the quality of the internal speaker is good as well, the sound is nice.
Feature wise...
The radio does allow you to disable alerts! And it's easy to disable them as well. This is very useful when you don't care to be woken up for a thunderstorm *watch*.
The radio pays attention to EOM! At then end of each voice alert broadcast they play a tone to signify EOM (end of message). When the radio hears this tone it mutes itself. This is great if your in bed, laying down, in the other room or just don't want to go over to the radio. The radio will play the alert message then mute itself once the message is over. Some units like the midland (nearly every model they make) doesn't pay attention to this, and you get to keep hearing the same alert message repeating over and over until the 15 minute timer runs out.
The time and date will automatically set itself if you point it to a FM radio station that broadcasts the time/date via RDS. (I had to try a few different stations that broadcast RDS until I found one that did this; seems not all of them do in my area)
FM radio reception is excellent. To boot you get to see song name/Artist and radio station information scrolling on the screen.
I did find some of the instructions to be a bit not well translated. Like you have to have the weather radio set to "ON" or the "weather" button doesn't work. But really this is minor stuff, and you'll forget about it once you use it.
This radio is really a home run: great features, high quality and good aesthetics.

(More customer reviews)Bottom line up front: Don't expect a $30 CMOS backup camera to perform like your $600 camcorder.
This camera is good for the price. I installed it rather quickly in conjunction with my Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT. It added a Pyramid 10-amp noice filter ($3) as close to camera as possible to ensure it got clean power. It works fine. I can see anything behind me, day or night. Between the IR illuminators on the camera and your backup lights, anything close enough to be of concern at normal reversing speeds are illuminated.
After careful aiming, I know right where the "sweet spot" is for backing closse to other car's bumper and other obstacles behind me and still have a save 6-12" buffer. I now get in and out of tight spots with ease.
Important notes:
- Don't expect this to look like HDTV. It's a $30 CMOS camera.
- Use the $3 noise filter.
- Route your cables carefully. You should ground the negative lead as close to the camera aspossible and run the positive lead to your choice of power supply (the reverse lights, of you want the camera on only when you're backing, or an accessort power, if you wnat it on when the car's on - as in my case where my head unit has a "rear view" mode for viewing trailers and such while moving forward). If conecting to accessory power, you'll likely have to extend the cable to the front of the vehicle. Keep it a few inches from the from the video cable, and make sure both the video and power cable cross each other and other cables at 90-degrees, and avoid parralle runs. Also, be prepared to extend the video cable. I had to add a 6-foot extension to mine in order to get it to reach the head unit.
I don't understand wht someone would spend over $100 for a higher quality camera for the purpose of just backing up, unless they're using it for some sort of high-speed reversing and/or using a really large screen, in which case I would personally use a 0 lux securty-type camera with a differnt mounting location.

Its probably best suited for practice and songwriting, particularly if your song writing leans heavily on guitar tones. Plug in your guitar, slip on a set of headphones and start improvising - in no time you'll find yourself tweaking sounds that are amazing. It requires a purchase of the Amplitube software for around 15 bucks - so you're talking about a 50 dollar investment at the end of the day. But if you want to have the capability of sitting in your living room and wailing without disturbing anyone around then this is it.

I chose the option that Samsung did not mention - I bought the WET610N! The unit was easy to setup, and the instructions were clear. I've never been fond of using Linksys CD's to setup this kind of equipment, but I have to say it was painless and quick compared to some others I've seen. The value of this unit is simply that it will work with ANYTHING that wants a "wired" network connection. So, it doesn't matter if it's a video game system, a DVR type device, or as in this case a blu-ray DVD Player. For this reason, the unit is a great value and will be in use for a long time, even when the current equipment I am using it with now is long gone.

(More customer reviews)I saw the previous review and was really shocked that someone gave CoolerMaster a low score. Here's my own take on this.
I was deciding whether or not to build my 2nd custom PC system or get one pre-built online. When I was building the 'dream system', I saw this case as an option. After deciding between 932 and 922 (both are relatively new models) I decided to actually build my system myself (again!!!). I was previously using RaidMax (Sagita series) case and Antec. After I saw the 932 in person I was shocked at how much bigger the case was compared to my Raidmax, so I decided to get a 922 (which looks better by the way), and I'm glad I did! I'm a serious overclocker, having my fans running at 100% speed (sorry no liquid cooling here:)...yet). The salesman mentioned that this case is the quietest he's ever seen, and he was right! After overclocking my Core i7 and jumping the fan speed up to 100% I still couldn't hear the PC. It was much better than my old Antec case, and way-way better than Raidmax. Inside there are plenty of options on the setup, as I was easily able to include my CoolerMaster V8 fan control on the rear (by the PCI slots), and my GTX285 - there's room for 2 sli video cards, eventhough the manual says you can put 3 in tri-sli mode. There's even a cool button on the top of the case where you can turn on/off the red led light on the front fan. One of the things I wanted to mention is: if you decide to overclock your pc, you'll need to add more fans. With the stock fans: front, top and rear, my cpu cores average 50C when idle - considering I got V8 as a cooler. The better setup would be to add 1 more front fan (there's room for 3! ), and a side fan as another intake.
Now, before I was really looking for a transperent side-panel. After having this case, I'm really into these classy-looking 'see-behind-my-fan' types of cases. By the way, BOTH! of the panels are easily taken out - that really helps to install cpu cooler as there's a square cut out specifically for mounting brackets.
Overall, I'm super-impressed with HAF922. Considering it's not a mid-tower, rather it's a full-size, it's really quiet with it's fans at or below 19db @ 1800rpm. Lots of options, even a 5'25" conversion drive, which took me some time to figure out where it was :), easy to setup, and very solid. I'm now considering replacing my old Raidmax with the 922 HAF. Great purchase!

(More customer reviews)I bought this product and found like many other people out there that if you have a tape deck with an auto-reverse feature, that you'll have some problems with just about any cassette adapter. After looking online, I found out how to fix most brands, but not this one. So after tooling around for about half an hour, I figured out how to get this cassette adapter to work in an auto-reverse tape deck. If you open the adapter and look inside, you'll see a small gear between one of the center teeth wheels and the little assembly that contains the guide wheel near the edge of the adapter that can only rotate in one direction. Remove this small gear. This will allow the tape to spin freely in either direction. If you look at the guide wheel, you'll notice that it can shift to two positions. One that protrudes closer to the outside of the adapter and one that has it sit more inside the adapter. Tape this piece so that it stays permanently in one of these two positions. That guide wheel moving is how the auto-reverse in your tape deck knows to activate. After I made these changes, I found that the adapter worked in my Ford tape deck flawlessly. No need for an FM transmitter, after all! Hope this helps those of you with the same problem!

(More customer reviews)These are decent speakers, but not great. If you just wanted a speaker upgrade for your PC or Mac, this might fill the bill, but don't expect super hi-fi sound.
Pros:
1. Easy set up.
2. Front panel controls
3. The power brick is not so huge that it crowds your power strip.
4. Front panel plug for mp3 that cuts around primary sound source.
5. Non-distorted, clear sound. Good for jazz, classical, most pop.
Cons:
1. None of the parts detach from each other, so you can only place the speakers the distance of the existing cord, which is about 3'.
2. The nice design takes up a bit more desk space than I like, and there is no wall mount hole on the back.
3. There is only a "tone control" not a separate bass and treble. SO you only get one, or the other.
4. Bass is too weak for rock or R&B, etc.
Conclusion:
When you take the $27.39 price into account (current Amazon price) these are really good value speakers. They sound good, set up easily and don't look as cheap as other speakers in the category. However, if you expect these to blow away some Bose PC speakers, you will be disappointed. Your wallet, however, will be happier. You can also get part way there by upgrading to the Altec BXR 1221 three piece set for $29.95. For the extra $2, you get bass and a "little" freer speaker placement.

(More customer reviews)I attached this 1-TB USB external drive to my 2.8 ghtz IMac. The setup was a snap, but the included utilities wanted to take the whole drive as a single partition. I used the Mac's disk utilities, and created two partitions. This way, one partition can now be used for Time Machine (which by the way, will keep backing up until the disk is full, then begins deleting the oldest files), and another partition that is used to back up my Linux server.
The rest of the setup was fast. The Mac found the drive quickly, and so did Time Machine. The Time Machine software asked me which partition I wanted to use, and once that was decided on, Time Machine took off, and has been backing up ever since. How simple is that?
Also, most of the specs I read on this drive show a cache of 16 mb, but the drive as delivered, much to my pleasant surprise, has a cache of 32 mb. Even with the USB connection (I think firewire, which is available on some other La Cie drives, is about 15% faster), I found the file transfer time more than acceptable. I have run video from the drive with no issues. Also, I often transfer rather large photo files, and graphic images to and from the drive, and again no issues.
All that being said, for the money, the drive is hard to beat.

(More customer reviews)This is my second UPS from APC (I have a review posted on the ES 550VA also) and I continue to be happy with their products. I am enduring a home remodel and bought my first APC UPS (an ES 550VA) to protect against tripped breakers and electrical interference from all of the power tools running on the same breakers as my electronics. These two units have been absolutely essential in keeping my equipment safe. My ES 550VA runs my desktop PC and monitor. It has reported numerous, almost daily, power fluctuations that it has compensated for and has provided me several opportunities to go and reset a breaker while the PC ran happily off of the UPS battery. Both of the UPS were plug and play with Vista for monitoring via the PC but also come with software that adds additional functionality. For my Windows 7 laptop I downloaded the latest PowerChute Personal edition software from APC (just so I could plug into a UPS and check it's status without it being connected to a desktop computer) and It also works great.
I use this 450VA model to keep my wireless phone, router, and video surveillance system running during short outages. The ES 450VA will run these devices for about 30 to 35 minutes on battery according to the PowerChute software and, when I unplugged the power to check it out, watching the battery drain via the same software seemed to support this. Both models have 8 plugs, 4 for battery backup and 4 for surge protection. There is also surge protection for a phone/fax/dsl line which I have my DSL line plugged into without issues. Finally, there is an on/off button and an LED that lets you know if the battery needs replacement. On a side note, you need to open the unit up and remove protective contacts on the battery prior to the first use.
I picked up one of these on "black Friday" for about the price of a surge protector and couldn't be happier.

The first approach streams music from your computer to speakers of your choice. Apple Airport Express or the Sonos System are an example. The second approach involves docking iPods directly to an integrated set of speakers. The Octiv Air essentially takes the "dock" approach, but provides an aux port, so it also supports the "computer streaming" approach when paired with the above products. Thus, the Octiv Air operates in a very impressive, unique way!
Better yet, instead of the dock being physically attached to the speaker system, the dock is separate and wirelessly streams your iPod or "computer streamer"'s sound to the speaker, which can be placed elsewhere. For me, that feature makes the system brilliant!
My wife likes to listen to her iPod in the kitchen, but the problem with other iPod docking products is that our counter space is too valuable to fit a big speaker. Now, we can set the iPod in a small, out-of-the-way dock on the kitchen counter, but stream the music to the speaker, which sits elsewhere!
Another plus is that the wireless dock supports any sound output from your iPod. This means that in addition to the music on the iPod hard drive, you can also use the Octiv Air for Pandora internet radio and any other music supported by iPod Touch/iPhone applications!
As for the sound quality, it's excellent! It's much crisper than the docking products I've used in the past, and rivals any high-end docking system I've heard.
My only complaints are trivial. First, while the product description says the wall-mounting bracket is "optional", what it SHOULD say is that it's "sold separately". Second, while the system works with iPhone 3G, docking it will result in your iPhone giving you a message saying "this accessory is not designed to work with iPhone". You can just close the warning and everything will work as normal, but be prepared for the annoyance if you want to dock your phone.
All in all, I think Altec Lansing has thrown together a FANTASTIC product, that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend if you're in the market for a high-end iPod speaker system!

(More customer reviews)The reason that I'm writing this review is because this product is new and I could not find a single review on this turntable before I purchased it. I had been shopping for a turntable for quite awhile, reading reviews and product specs until I finally decided on the PS-LX300USB mostly for its appearance, price, USB capabilities and the Sony name. I've had this turntable for two weeks now and so far I am very pleased with its performance.
Here's what I like about this turntable:
Great sound that surpasses a number of CD recordings of the same music; USB connection that easily allows conversion of analog music to digital files; Even the MP3s that I made sound better than some of the CD versions of the same music; It is black and blends in well with my other stereo equipment and doesn't look like a bloated silver flying saucer (like some other USB turntables); Easy to operate; Price is great; Software works very good once you figure out how it operates.
As for my opinion of its shortcomings:
The plastic construction has a light cheap look. The software instructions in the manual will lead you to select a "record" option that will prevent you from hearing the audio as you record it. This was a little annoying until I found the "Vinyl Recording" feature under one of the drop down menus at the top of the screen.
Conclusion:
If you simply want to enjoy the great sound of vinyl, and if you want to easily make your own mp3s, and if you don't feel the need to brag about spending $300 + on a turntable and $80 on RCA cables like the audiophiles would have you think is necessary, then this might be the turntable for you. I recommend this turntable and I've been listening to vinyl records for over fifty years.

Plantronics SupraPlus CS361N Noise-Canceling Wireless Headset DECT Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this CS361N headset to work with a Polycom SoundPoint Pro SE-225 desk telephone (not VOIP). I wanted a binaural design so that I would be less distracted by other noises around me while engaged in a conversation or even just listening.
Set-up is Easy: the Polycom corded handset (curly cable) connects to the base of the Plantronics unit and an RJ-11 cable goes from the Plantronics out jack to the side of the Polycom phone. After making a few minor adjustments to earphone volume and speaker sensitivity (defaults were adequate), the headset worked extremely well.
Quality & Comfort: audio quality is outstanding and people report that my voice sounds natural and clear on the receiving end. The headset is relatively light and the cushions sit gently on the ear (vs. over). I prefer the padded (leatherette?) cushions that came stock vs. the optional foam cups. The mouthpiece is adjustable and easily slides up/down when I want to move it away from my lips. I can wear these phones for hours at a time comfortably.
Operation: I am only occasionally involved in long teleconferences, so I typically do not wear the headset all day long. I have it configured so that, when I want to make a call, I put on the headset, then uncradle the Polycom handset and set it on the desk (opens line). From that point, I just dial a phone number. I am not using an optional auto-handset-lifter (don't need it); so, when a call is over, I merely hang up the Polycom handset, press an end call button on the left earpiece, and cradle the Plantronics in its recharger.
Recharger: I cannot remember how long a full charge lasts, but I think it might be 8-10 hours or so of continuous use. I have never left it off the recharger long enough to run out of juice and cannot imagine such a scenario occuring unless it happens accidentally. When the headset is properly seated/mounted on the recharger, a yellow light comes on and either blinks (recharging) or is solid (fully charged). When the headset is off the recharger, a red LED lights up. A green LED indicator on the top of the unit indicates "In a Call" (solid) or "Mute" (blinking). Couldn't be much easier than that!
Range: the range on this unit is quite extensive. While on a call recently, I walked outside to my mailbox (end of driveway) and was STILL connected. On many long conf calls, I meander all around my first floor (e.g. kitchen) with no static or disruptions of any kind.
Static: occasionally, I get some static on a call, but I haven't been able to determine the root cause. In some cases, it might be coming from the distant connection (e.g. VOIP!!!). Per the Plantronics instructions, I moved the recharger base unit at least 6" away from the Polycom. The incidents of static dropped considerably after that change. Most calls are pure and clean unless affected by my Blackberry (GPRS) which does cause electronic interference when it periodically syncs with the mother ship. The simple solution there is to move it further away from the Polycom.
I have only one gripe: while on mute (button is on left earpiece), the Plantronics unit beeps in my ear every 10 seconds or so which becomes quite annoying when I am on a long conference call listening to the dialogue. The recharger unit also blinks (LED) to indicate that the call is on mute, so I don't know why the beeping cannot be turned off optionally. It would be easier to slide the mouthpiece up to remind myself that I am on mute, so I don't need to be constantly pestered with that incessant beeping. I haven't found a way to disable it, so I am going to raise that concern with Plantronics.
Overall: excellent product and works extremly well. I am very satisfied with this purchase, especially in combination with the Polycom SoundPro SE-225.

I am a late-30's gamer that absolutely loved the Tron movie when it first came out. I picked this up on December 7th at a gamestop and I think it is a truly fantastic game.
The graphics are beautiful on the PS3, judging by some of the reviews I have read here, I would love to know what the expectations were with regards to how the game was designed. It looks exactly like the movie, what more did you want? As far as the story mode goes, it is loaded with Combat and some interesting cut-scenes, and from my viewpoint, those were my expectations from an action based game. They aren't re-inventing the wheel...and hell, I didn't want them to.
I, also, have been frustrated by the terrible games in the past that were thrown out there in a rush move to capitalize on the interest created by the release. I would not throw Tron Evolution into that category.
I will summarize my thoughts with this: If interest in the movie or the Tron world is what has brought you to the game, you will not be disappointed.

Short Review (if you don't want to read all that):

I give it a 4 1/2 stars. The keys feel nice and mushy. The LCD is no doubt really awesome to have for any multi-tasking person. I feel the features on the video player/YouTube player is missing some basic options and that is why I'm not giving it a 5-star (although this could all change with new apps or updates). Overall, the keyboard is for any gadget lovers/video enthusiasts/YouTube fans -- not just gamers. The macro G-keys, as usual in previous keyboards, is also a powerful tool for anyone wanting to work more efficiently, and again, not just for gaming.

[2005 model] G15 v1 (Blue LED) has 18 G-Keys x 3 modes = 54 programmable.
[2007 model] G15 v2 (Orange LED) has 6 G-Keys x 3 modes = 18 programmable.
[2009 model] G19 (White is the default LED) has 12 G-keys x 3 modes = 36 programmable.
THE KEYS ON THE KEYBOARD:
G15 v1: It's small and spread apart.
G15 v2: It's larger and close together.
G19: The size is in between those two keyboards; it's also close together like the v2. Overall, I like typing on this the best.
Some positives and negatives of each keyboard...
G15 v1 (2005 - Blue LED):
+ Has the most G-keys (most people didn't seem to need/use this much, including myself, hence why v2 had so little)
+ Volume/media control wheel is nice
+ LCD can be closed shut completely
+ Has handles on the top of the keyboard for carrying it easier.
+ Lots of custom apps to be found on the net.
- Takes up the most desk space
- USB 1.1 (okay for plugging USB headphones and gaming controllers)
G15 v2 (2007 - Orange LED):
+ For those that don't need that many G-keys and prefer larger keys.
- LCD cannot tilt (already fixed)
- Volume control is just a plain button
- USB 1.1
G19 (2009):
+ Color LCD (biggest selling point and biggest upgrade) - what keyboard has a color video display?! Any geek's dream come true. It's great for multi-tasking and time flies even more now that you don't waste a second even on game loading screen or spectating a game.
+ USB 2.0 (all previous G15's were USB 1.1, so now it is suitable for even connecting flash/hard drives and not just game controllers) -- this is why it also requires an AC adapter to the keyboard. The USB ports are both on the same side now, which makes it a little easier to locate than the previous keyboards having it one on each side; however, it can be a problem when connecting flash drives or SD card readers that really stick out to the side)
+ Custom backlight colors
+ Volume scroll (although I wish it turned smoother) / some custom apps for the G15 uses the volume up/down to select menus/songs, so the new up/down scroll volume control on the G19 works out perfectly for that.
+ The keys have a nice clean feel and layout (as mentioned before, the keys aren't too spread out and still large enough, so there's less strain on the fingers for me)
- Requires AC adapter (although it is understandable, some may not have a plug open)
- Lack of app support for now.
- Price is a killer! (considering there isn't really any other keyboard with a video display, it is slightly understandable... but the apps still needs work.) ====================================================== ISSUES FOR ME:
* I have to say the documentation is very poor for this keyboard. I had no idea what the "Clipboard Commands" (10.4 on the readme file) was all about for playing a YouTube video -- that I actually want to watch. The only option you get when you enter the YouTube Video Player is viewing "Top Rated, Top Favorites (not your own), Most Viewed, Most Popular, Discussed, etc." -- of all time, this month, this week, or today (default) -- Sure, sometimes some interesting videos may come up, but I honestly never really care for those "RANDOM" videos anyway; I prefer watching videos that I actually WANT to watch (not some "YouTube Celebrity" talking about their life all the time).
I mean, the dedicated YouTube viewer is definitely a nice idea, but I don't know why they couldn't just add a simple built-in search to toggle between typing on the LCD and out of it! (Hopefully some talented people can make some custom app to do this; for the G15, the custom app music players, such as the myLCD WVS, are far superior to Logitech's Music Media player)
It has the usual LCD Clock, Performance Monitor, Countdown Timer, but having an LCD screen, it would have been useful and nice if it at least had a built-in notepad to type out codes and other memos! (this would have also been a great workaround for using the "clipboard command")
Basically, you first have to enable "automatic playback of YouTube video URLs" in the advanced tab options, and whenever you copy (Ctrl + C) a YouTube URL, it will automatically end up on the LCD screen. So if you're in a game and you can't type and highlight/copy text, then you really can't search anything.
And to actually search for videos, you have to use their "clipboard command" (you'll want to macro this instead of having to remember and type this command every time):

AND THEN you have to highlight all that and COPY (Ctrl + C) it to actually execute the search. I believe in games like WoW and Counter-Strike, this is OK for now and not completely useless, since it lets you type and highlight in-game for games such as those.
* You cannot navigate to different video folders through the LCD. You have to keep setting one video directory/all sub-directory and it will list all of them.
* Would be nice to change aspect ratio/stretch/zoom/fit when viewing videos, and especially for pictures. Since it has directional controls, they should allow you to zoom in on pictures. The picture viewer is pretty useless for me.
* It needs a quick jump to top/bottom or multiple files instead of scrolling through all the files one by one, especially if you have lots of videos. It would be nice if the volume control scroll could be temporarily toggled into acting as navigating up/down menus because it's so much easier than the buttons.
* I find it odd that it allows you to go quickly back to the top/bottom if you get to the end of the list for the main 'Switch to Program' menu screen; however, for the video/YouTube player list, once you get to the top or bottom, you're stuck and have to scroll all the way back up/down yourself! Personally, I find this inconvenient, especially since the navigation buttons aren't necessarily easy to keep pressing. For the YouTube search results, it does not allow you to HOLD-scroll either.
* For YouTube search results, it only displays the first 25 video results.
* It would be nice to be able to have a video playlist or be able to access your YouTube account's favorites. I would love it if it had a Winamp support so that it plays videos from the Winamp list too.
* Fast forward is already determined depending on the video duration. If it's a really short clip, like less than 10 seconds, then you can fast forward/rewind at 1sec intervals. However, if it's an hour long clip or so, it's already set to fast forward at 5 minutes. It doesn't matter how long you hold the button or release, the speed is not variable and is already set. This makes getting the precise spot of the clip impossible.
* It only looks for common video extentions. I have some .flv files that I saved directly from YouTube, but I have to rename them to .avi for the LCD to pick it up.
* If you searched several YouTube videos on the LCD, then you can press the Logitech-back arrow button key to see the previous results/videos, but once you go back, you can't go forward!
* Once a current YouTube-sent video ends playing, it ends up going back to the menu screen and there is no quick video repeat option. It really would be nice to have a history of viewed YouTube videos played on the G19 LCD!

* The install CD that came with mine was an older version 3.0.1 (but the website had a 3.02), so you should check that before installing.
* As long as if the video plays fine on the main system player, such as Windows Media Player, having the right codecs and everything on the system (not built-in codecs like VLC), then it should play on the G19 monitor.
* If the person uploading a video on YouTube doesn't allow external linking, it will not be playable on the LCD; you will get that error message instead and ask if you want to play directly on a browser.
* Sometimes the YouTube Player may not respond to your clipboard commands; you'll either have to restart the Logitech LCD Manager or just kill the "LCDYT.exe" process...Read more›

I started to shop around for a new pair of headphones to use at work when my 6 year-old Sony MDR-F1's earpads completely wore out (it costs a whopping $100 to replace just the foam earpads!). I am a 3D computer artist, and I sit in front of the computer all day, so comfort was a major factor in my purchasing decision. Additionally, however, I am really into music, so sound quality is extremely important to me. I've always loved the sound of Grado Lab's 'phones, they are bright and lively, but they have never been very comfortable, especially for long listening sessions. Conversely, my Sony MDR-F1s were only decent from a sound perspective, but they were incredibly comfy.
I took a listen to a co-worker's HD-580's, because I'd never listened to or even tried on a pair of Sennheisers. To be honest, my impression of the 580's was not super positive. Sennheiser has called the sound quality of the 580's and 600's 'polite', but to me they seemed to have a slightly subdued sound, heavy on the bottom-end, but not really up-front like the Grado's that I like so much. I realized that the impedance of the 580's and the really expensive HD-600's was 200 OHMs which could've explained their subdued quality. I AM listening out of a headphone amplifier, but it's a tiny HeadRoom TotalAirhead which possibly didn't have enough power for the 580's. It was then that I started becoming really interested in the HD-595's because of their 50 OHM impedance.
I decided to take the plunge on the 595's last week and ordered them from Amazon for $181. After 2 days of listening to music from my PC via the HeadRoom TotalAirHead all I can say is -
"WOW, these are the best headphones I've ever heard".
The Sennheiser proclaimed 'polite' quality that I didn't like about the 580's is non-existant in the 595's. They are so lively, up-front and exciting to listen to. They have so much detail, and my little amp has no trouble whatsoever driving them. I DID have to push the bottom end of the EQ a bit to get the fullness that I like out of my music, but this wasn't a big deal. I have not tried them sans-amplifier yet, but it seems that the low impedance would make them ideal for portable players also.
Additionally, they are SO COMFORTABLE, if a bit hot-on-the-ears with the velour earcups. They look cool, they are super lightweight, and they come with this nifty headphone 'stand' that clamps to a table for hanging the 'phones when not in use.
I love listening to these things, I give them 5 out of 5 stars.

Well, actually, I did pick up an open box unit that didn't work because they couldn't provide me with the external power supply, so I took it back and got the Icicle as a quick fix that would get me where I needed to go in a timely manner.
Hardware: iMac, dual core 2.0 GHz processor and 4 GB or RAM. OS 10.5.8.
Software: Garage Band.
Mic: Shure SM57.
Pros. For recording trumpet with an SM57 it was perfect. Clear sound, low noise, LOTS of signal. With the gain a little over half way on the Icicle and about 58% in Garage Band I got hot horn lines with gain to spare. Any hotter and they would have started clipping, so it definitely gave enough signal to get the job done.
Cons. The gain knob has no dial or indicators for how far you have turned it - it has to be done by feel making it almost impossible to duplicate your settings exactly. This could be improved with a knob with an arrow and a marked dial so you can see where it's set. It also feels a bit cheap - it's lightweight and feels almost fragile. Treated with care it's fine, but I doubt it would take much abuse before it would break and I have been ultra careful with it because it feels so lightweight and cheap. I also used it as recommended in the accompanying literature and didn't plug it directly into the back of the mic - I used it with a mic cable.
For what I needed it was perfect - simple plug and play that got good sound into my computer, and it worked well in a pinch. I just wish it was a little higher quality in terms of construction. A bit heavier and a better dial for the analog gain, and I would have rated it a full 5 stars but as it is, I can at best give it 4.

(More customer reviews)As an audiophile who has had numerous very high end (Meridian, Cello, McIntosh, B&W, Proceed...) components in and out of my systems over the years, I can say wholeheartedly that the F-12 is an outstanding value for the $170-$200 retail price. I bought it for my 13x20x9 budget media room which is currently under construction but have been using it in my 2 channel system for kicks over the last two weeks. The low frequency extension is excellent(down 4db at 25Hz in my room) and I would consider it pleasantly musical with speakers capable of flat response at or below 80Hz (which isn't asking much). It is when this sub is paired with very small speakers that it begins to tarnish; typical of many ported subwoofers, it just doesn't play well above the 80Hz range. For example, Paired with NHT Superzeros, which fall off a cliff at about 85-90Hz, some of the "punchiness" is lost. This frequency response trough is most likely the reason why some reviewers claim that the F-12 sounds "muddy".
With the right speakers and set up correctly (with a decibel meter), the F-12 is an outstanding sub for the asking price. Truly a great bargain and one heck of a warranty.

(More customer reviews)I decided to try out this highly rated bluetooth speaker for my iPad and iPhone and was shocked at its ease of use, sound quality, small footprint, portability and long battery life. I liked the choice of colors which makes these small speakers standout and easy to spot. When I first opened the package, I was pleased that the company included several high quality cords including both short and long micro USB cords for recharging and computer synching, charge adapter, and a tangle-free audio cord for non-bluetooth sources. You can create an account on the Jawbone MyTALK site to download voice profiles and apps. In pairing mode, it easily connected with all of our iPads and iPhones. I tested the iPad first with Netflix, Pandora, Hulu+, Air Video Server, and iTunes. Considering that the speaker is only the size of 2 stacked Wii controllers, the sound was surprisingly strong, clear, full-bodied, and free of hisses or pops that I have experienced with other bluetooth speakers and maintained the bluetooth connection without a single drop. Next, I paired both an iPhone 4 and 3Gs and both easily paired with the speaker. I ran Pandora and tested the speakerphone function which worked nicely. You can program a quickdial number that can be immediately dialed by pushing the round botton on the top when paired with a phone. You can download apps for voice commands which I didn't try since I rarely ever use, but the transmission and receiving sound quality is quite good. The next day, I went to work in the operating room and everyone was curious when I pulled out the small speaker and placed my iPhone by its side. There's no need to bring any cords which is the real advantage of using this speaker for true convenient portability. When I started playing my Pandora selections from the iPhone, no one in the O.R. could believe it was coming out of this small speaker. It obviously isn't going to challenge a Bose SoundDock or Dr. Dre Beatbox, but we all had a pleasant day in the operating room doing a full day of cases with great tunes and the speaker lasted the entire day using only 50% of the battery life. At home, I was surprised when my son was playing games on the iPad downstairs and the sound was coming through the Jambox speakers located upstairs with perfect clarity. I researched all of the bluetooth speakers currently available, and this stands out by far. Personally, I prefer using this small speaker which I can pull out of my labcoat, rather than carrying around a large heavy sounddock with cords shoved in a bag. I now leave the sounddock in my office. The only reason I didn't rate this 5-stars is due to the sticker-shocker price which I personally feel is a bit excessive and would be more competitive in the $150 - $170 range. At the $200 pricepoint, most people are audiophiles and will likely make the unfair comparison to larger sounddocks. On the other hand, this is perfect for people like myself willing to sacrifice a bit of room-filling base-rumbling sound for a truly portable wireless speaker with accurate sound reproduction. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and will buy another when and if the price drops.

True to my word, when this went on a Gold box deal for $149, I purchased a second speaker for the kids who used them on camping trips to watch movies on their iPads with their friends. I've been using this daily over the past year with only a few minor issues. I am not a big fan of the latest downloaded software update to add "Live Audio" sound processing which really dampens the sound volume too much to be effective and have only noticed a subtle difference for certain music files. I suspect there will be more reviewers who will knock this device due to dissatisifaction with the Live Audio update, but don't realize that this can be simply toggled on/off by depressing and holding the minus and plus buttons together a few seconds. After purchasing a second one for the kids to use with their iPads, I had to change the bluetooth device names to distinguish multiple speakers since it is default set as "JAMBOX by Jawbone." If you have already synced your i"Device" you will notice that it will keep the old name. Simply go to Settings/General/Bluetooth and select the Not Connected icon and select "Forget this device." This will reset the name for the device and you can simply rescan and resync with the speaker to update the name in your bluetooth device list. I don't understand why there are so many poor reviews for syncing problems which has nothing to do with the quality of this speaker, but rather to user misunderstanding about using iOS and bluetooth pairing. Other reviewers have also recommended the Soundfreaq SFQ-1 which has equal (to my ears, slightly superior to others) bluetooth sound quality and comparable pricing. I like the SoundFreaq, but I still prefer the JAMBOX due to its smaller size and simple rectangular shape which easily fits in my coat pocket for portability. The sound quality coupled with design factor make this a much more flexible purchase. Ignore reviews that make unfair comparisons to larger expensive office/room audiophile speakers which serve different purposes. I use both the Bose SoundDock and Dr. Dre Beatbox and also really enjoyed the inexpensive, but discontinued Griffin Amplfi speaker which all give a wider and fuller sound experience but are all impractical to drag around with you.

almost exclusively 1 star reviews, and I didn't find this out until today when I went back to purchase my 3 replacement (so 4 in total) in the past year. Now i see that EVERYONE had the exact same problems. As the other reviewer said- the plug comes loose at the slightest tug for one thing. And if he had waited longer to review he might have noticed that the cord not being seated correctly eventually leads to the connector's seating becoming distressed to the point where the whole metal connector breaks off. After that- the adaptor is nothing but a paper weight.
I'm still looking for a quality replacement part for this, but havent found anything yet. This is only 1 of the several quality problems i've had with my HP laptop which I spent a lot of money on expecting good quality. Wont make that mistake again- I am no longer an HP customer.

The unit has red light showing Answering Machine is on as well as blinking red light showing new messages . The keys are large. The display screen is very conveniently located, size and clarity are very good. I ordred two hand sets and going to order more. The hand-set intercome feature is very useful. I have two story yhouse and I am moving a lot. This feature makes it easier to communicate with other members of the house.
The Amazon service has remained consistently good. I am glad to have this unit.

(More customer reviews)These iHome Rechargeable Mini speakers sound pretty good, even approaching maximum volume. (I have not played bass-heavy music on them.) Great for the size and weight, adequate for the price.
For better portable sound, I would go to the iHome 29, which is a lot heavier. For best portable sound (but not for travel), I would go to the Bose Portable SoundDock, but that is too big to leave home.
They pack into a little bag (maybe the size of 1.5 adult male fists) and travel nicely.
To set them up is a bit of a hassle, but it's not a terrible trade-off for the sound, size, weight and rechargeable batteries. You must extend each of the two units with a little twist for each, then plug a mini-USB cable into each unit (not so easy, but certainly do-able), then plug the mini-earphone plug into the sound source (iPod), then turn each unit on. Then turn on your iPod, find your song, and you are ready. Not a big deal in your hotel room, but not a procedure that you would want to undertake in your rental car, for example.
Very easy to charge. The cable harness includes a regular USB plug for a computer's USB port, or for the USB port on your iPod's wall charger. The charge seems to last a long time, but I have not used them enough to evaluate this.
Because these are stereo, they sound better for music than the one-speaker units.
I got the red ones to minimize the risk of leaving them behind. My wife kindly changed the bag from flat-black (and so easy to leave behind) to brighter colors for the same reason.

The foam surround of all 4 OEM speakers had rotted away and of course they sounded terrible. I found these Pyle Drive Gear Speaker Kits and couldn't believe the price break. I also liked the individual driver design. I ordered one Kit and installed it in the front of my vehicle. The difference was astounding. So astounding that I ordered another kit and installed it in the rear of my vehicle. I how have four 6 1/2" woofers & 4 tweeters running through the enclosed crossovers that make it sound great and they're only running off the OEM sound equipment! All that and Amazon free shipping to boot! I'm extremely satisfied, would do it again, and recommend these speakers.

(More customer reviews)This speaker only works with the 3rd generation iPod Nano MP3 player. The nano sits snugly on the TravelSound i80 docking speakers. You may need to push it down a little harder to make it snap but make sure you are not pressing on your iPod's LCD. Together, it is just the size of a pack of cigarette so you can trully say it is pocketsize. The wall adapter connects directly to the side of the speaker. I was able to charge it fully in just 2 hours. It uses Li-ion battery which is known to be light, no memory effect, and a slow loss of charge in storage. Has a rotary volume control and an LED indicator for battery status.
This is great when you want to share listening to music but don't want to share earbuds. Although it is suprisingly loud for such a small speaker, the sound feels tiny as it lacks base and thumps (it can only go as low as 180hz). It sounds great in the bedroom if you do not need to crank it up. And of course, just perfect for listening to podcasts.
What you get in the box:
a) Speaker/dock
b) Wall adapter with a 3-foot USB cord, 5V DC output.
c) Stand
d) Black pouch with the "Creative" logo on it. Both the speaker and the nano fits inside it
What seems to be missing in the box:

-For such a small speaker, it is impressively loud. Sound is clean even at high volume. I live in a moderately size townhouse and it can fill the whole floor with sound.

Pros:
-cage allows it to be chained down with ladders and job box.
-cord wrap keeps cable tidy when not in use.
-light weight.
-square shape lets you stack it on a two wheeler (unlike the DW & Mil).
-snap-down CD tray keeps discs from jamming if you tip it or crash into it with a skyjack.
-EQ was designed to be LOUD and fill a room with sound (see cons).
-on-board GFCI cleans up cable clutter.
-12v output and mini-jack input lets me tie in an i-pod or other gear.
-battery charger cabinet holds 8-9 CD jewel cases for safe transport!
CONS:
-EQ was not designed for the audiophile carpenter. If you want booming lows and tight high-end, buy a Bose Wave Radio and hope you don't trash it.
-no line out jack for sending to a transmitter or other device.
-FM reception is garbage, I use CDs and MP3s unless we are listening to AM.
-backlit display is not designed for viewing above horizontal. If you have the box setting on the ground, you must tip it back (or lay on the floor) to read the display. From above you see all possible icons.
-volume control doesn't give you much room for subtle music. I normally keep it on 1 or 2. Volume is electronic with a momentary up-down control via a shuttle knob (on the left)
-GFCI doors flip up, so you have to tip the unit to the side to see the plugs for mating. I just tore the doors off after a while. I figured, why have rain lids? I work indoors well after the job has been dry.
-all of the nooks and crannies on the molded case collect a LOT of dust and debris.
HINT!
The antenna is discretely hidden in the round top handle. I disassembled the unit, cut the antenna lead to the handle and soldered it to a retractable antenna (from my local RadioShack) that I attached easily to the top of the main shell. I do not reccomend this procedure, but I can tell you, it SIGNIFICANTLY increased my FM reception.

I am completely satisfied with my decision as this is a nice little system for under 100 bucks. It has nice clean tight base and hits the high notes without any distortion. It's perfect for someone who doesn't want to upset the neighbors but still listen to music and play games the way they should be heard. There was one little problem with humming when I first plugged them in but that was fixed by just adjusting the way I plugged it in. Overall, very happy.

Garmin Legend H Handheld GPS Navigator Review

(More customer reviews)This review applies to many of the Etrex's, not just the Legend. I do field work in the management of natural resources, and we've used a lot of GPS's. The Etrex's are very popular because they are small, easy to use, and cheap enough that people aren't afraid to carry them (vs a $4000 Trimble unit). The Legend in particular gives good bang for the buck because it's the least expensive model that displays very useful maps.
The only problem with the Etrex's (and many other GPS's) is that their lifespan is not all that long. We've had a number of units that go two to four field seasons and then start to break down. The most common failures are in the joystick and with the screen or start-up of the unit. The joystick often starts to lose the ability to move in one or more directions. You need the joystick to move through all the menus, so the problem effectively ruins your control of the unit. The other common problem is that the unit will refuse to start up, or it will start but the screen will have odd vertical lines and lose part of the display. Both problems generally get progressively worse until the unit is useless.
I don't know how much this applies to the newer color models, which seem a bit sleeker in their construction. But they cost a good deal more.
We use GPS's commonly but not constantly. A unit might get used once a week, but might then run all day. Field season generally lasts 6-8 months.

One thing that has not been made clear anywhere is that each speaker has a mini usb port, and the cable is headphone jack and usb on one side, and dual (labeled L and R) mini usb males on the other.The cable is that nice thread braid covered type. You can charge them via usb while listening, but they aren't usb speakers. they also have no volume control of their own.
they sound really great, even at max volume. Much louder than you would expect from such a small speaker.
i am not a gamer, just use these to listen to my iphone wherever.
I haven't used them enough to give a report on battery life, but it felt far less than the 13 hours, or whatever Razer claims. That said, they charge quickly.
few minor gripes:
i wish i had a second cable that didn't have the usb port (for charging), as it looks messy when its not connected. Also while the mini usb wires are labeled L and R, you can't read that once you plug it in and then you can't tell which speaker is supposed to be which.
I could do without Razer's gratuitous blue lights on everything they make... that seems it would only waste battery life.

After spending some time on the Internet and stores, we finally nailed down our choice to this one for its excellent price and features. There was a little goof up with the One Click method, and Amazon shipped it over priority mail instead of the free shipping. But when we sent them an e-mail they refunded the shipping cost.
The product so far has performed up to our expectation. Although we are yet to experiment on the advanced features like downloading songs, the basic functionality works just fine. There are plenty of preloaded rythms to select for the song you would like to play. Also there are practice songs (didn't help much to us as we play Indian music). The only poor thing about this model I guess is the speaker. It should have been more powerful perhaps. And also note that it doesn't come with the AC adapter. So better you order that one too.

Bass is a bit weak (as expected for the price) and they do distort rather quickly when volume is up high. I think I would be more pleased with the speakers if I had an amp added to my boat stereo.

Not very many reviews so felt compelled to leave on for these neat little speakers.
I have been looking for small desktop speakers that dont require batteries and something not so expensive. I would like to keep my computer speakers hooked up to my computer, but wanted to not have to unplug them to use it on my ipod touch. I have a set of Tweakers that i use on my laptop at home and love those, but didnt want to keep buying more of the same thing.
These are great little speakers for a small price. Considering they do not require a battery, it plugs right into your ipod device and streams the music nice & clear!
I wouldnt pay more than $10

However, if you want to use the Simplesave as a plain external hard disk you're in for a rude surprise. The backup software is installed on a "Virtual CD-ROM" partition that is installed on the drive in some very low level manner so that you can't get rid of the 500M of wasted "virtual CD-ROM" partition. Why didn't HP just put the software in the root drive of the data partition? Unfortunately, it's another typical "cram the software down your throat" HP product.

Con - There's no automatic setting to turn off the alarms on the weekend, so if you forget to turn the alarm off on Friday, you'll be waking up early on Saturday!

This Slim (1.7cm. or 0.7 inches), light Weight (180 Grams or 6.35 ounces) Navigation System is very easy to use whether in the car or out side the car; if like to go hiking, biking or exploring the down town of any city that you are not familiar with.
The Mp3 and the loud speakers give you added enjoyment while hiking or biking, but watch out for the battery.
The maps and other information about the Points of Interest (POI) are very accurate and load almost immediately, and the route updating is almost instantaneously.
The TeleAtlas map database covers the continental United States with Alaska and Hawaii in addition to Canada.
The 3D Map View gives a detailed view of your location and the route ahead, and you can easily zoom in or out.
Full Color TFT 3.5-inch touch screen interface, provides simple operation, in addition, maps and menus are easy-to-read on the large, anti-glare screen.
Pioneer Avics2 Portable Gps Navigation System features also a Night Display option, with Brightness Control of 8 Levels, and a built in Microphone.This compact GPS unit also features Bluetooth technology for hands-free cell phone operation while driving, which is a great blessing for safety.
The only con in my opinion is the battery life, which is about 4 hours. If you are planning to go hiking or biking for more than 4 hours, you better keep that in mind, but in the car there is no problem, as you can use a car charger which comes with the Pioneer Avics2 Portable Gps Navigation System.

(More customer reviews)When i first opened my $200 (i bought them early when they were only 200 then they uped it to 250) speakers i thought the sound would be amazing. WEll the bass was great but the satelites weren't "heavenly". Then i went online and found out that you need to break in new speakers for 20 hours to get best performance. So everyday when i left for work i started leaving them on until i hit 20 hours. I put on a good song and it was awesome. The sattelites were unbelieveable and the bass was even more great. So this really woke the lion. One little thing that annoys me, The sattelite speakers hiss a little when no music is on but nothing nerve racking. All i do Is just hit the snazzy mute (touch sensitive) and its the hissing is gone, nothing to not buy them over. So i absolutely love mine and bose surely held up its name. Great for music and works ok for games but go for 5.1 if you're into hard gaming and movies. One more thing these speakers aren't the best on hard rock or something where there's guitars and drums banging alot. But it's awesome on pop techno hiphop classical etc. Also be sure you got a good sound card i have an audigy LS and it's great for the price. TWo thumbs up!!

After about 1/2 hour and a utility knife I was able to remove the grill but destroyed it in the process. I am not an expert in audio by any means but this speaker did not sound good. I now have a complete in wall speaker theater with midlevel Polk speakers that is 100% better than the Pyle. Please shop around before you purchase this.

(More customer reviews)I have this unit, and the 1500 VA model from the same series. The 1500 VA unit has a LOUD fan that runs (1) when you first install (2) when on backup and (3) when trickle charging the battery as the unit periodically does. Too loud.
The 1000VA unit is totally quiet so far.
It backs up an I7-920 based gaming PC and monitor. No problems with that. (no strange "pure-sine-wave" issues like some PCs have). The UPS has a stepped sine wave, but that does the job.
The display shows power usage. I previously used a 'save-a-watt' meter. I prefer the UPS's built in display.
Net, I liket he UPS.

(More customer reviews)Let's face it...I'm just a hobby musician. A guy in his mid-30's who has tinkered with music most of his adult life. I've played both as a solo artist and with bands. I've also been fortunate enough to spend time in actual recording studios with true professionals. None of this qualifies me as an expert...but I do have a certain level of familiarity on the subject.
I purchased this mic to supplement my home studio. I was hoping to get a little better sound than my usual stable of dynamic mics provide. I think I got pretty lucky with this purchase - it's my understanding that in this particular price range, you shouldn't expect a whole lot. I mean, it's just a microphone, right?
What I will say is that I was certainly satisfied with my purchase. I've used this microphone in conjunction with a tube preamp on a handful of recordings with great success. I bought this with the intention of using it for vocals, but I've found that I actually prefer it to record my acoustic guitar - this microphone picks up all the sound that I'm looking for from my acoustic - it's the nice, mellow, and full bodied sound that I hear when I'm playing, but that I was never able to capture before. In terms of its originally intended use, I felt is was only a slight improvement over the SM58 that I typically used for vocals - however, I wouldn't put too much stock into my assessment, as vocals are not one of my strengths when it comes to music (let's face it, autotune was created for a reason, right?)
Granted - everyone is going to have different opinions of this product, and I happen to think it works great for those of us on a budget. In terms of value - it is a great product for a fantastic price. I liked this microphone so much, I plan on buying at least one more.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this radar unit for my Hummer H2. I am very familiar with radar being a commercial pilot. I've owned radar detecting equipment off and on for 32 years. This is the most sophisticated highly sensitive unit I've owned and its easy to set up and operate. Its mounted on my dash since I cant reach the windshield from the drivers seat. The radar detector performs great. It has many features to reduce false alerts. I like the intellimute feature. It senses your RPMS and mutes the sound up to a preset RPM that you have entered, plus speed alerts you can preset. Mine is set at 75. It will chime and says "speed alert" if speed is exceeded, very handy and shows your speed when alerting. It has picked up state troopers in town blocks away, plenty of time to adjust your speed. The screen is visable in bright daylight, but I use the blackout feature which it goes dark after a preset time you enter but it will light back up upon a radar/gps signal. The icons can be set to different colors (green blue red orange or multi) to match your dash light colors. You can tell if its a false hit because it will only read out KA band, but a police radar hit will show the frequency he is using. The touch screen is priceless. Just a touch of an icon will change a feature and is very easy to change settings on the go, and the red-light/speed camera/speed trap detection is indispensible. As I was driving the interstate on a camp trip the Cobra 9970G alerted (caution speed trap area). Right after it alerted I looked over at the oncoming lanes and a state trooper had someone pulled over with lights flashing. This thing really works. The AURA Database is constantly updated every 12 hours and is free with the purchase of the 9970G. You can also manually set different alert locations up to 1000 of them. I usually set it up for school zones. It will alert you well ahead of them.

(More customer reviews)The veebeam does what it says it will do, but only just. I would say that its very limited in its appeal and use. Read on for more.
Veebeam says that their product is good for viewing streaming video with, and it is in a limited sense. I had my veebeam hooked up via hdmi to my tv, and was streaming from a windows 7 laptop about 10 feet away from the tv (you really need to be in the same room for the veebeam to work).
I found that there was a 1 second delay between what was on the laptop and what was on the tv screen. So if you were hoping to use the veebeam as a wireless second monitor you can forget that.
The image quality was a bit choppy as well unless you use the veebeam player, their free media player. When using this I had good quality video and good quality audio streaming from my computer to my tv - but you can't queue up netflix or other such services with this. It would have to be either media on your computer or dvds/blu-ray discs in your disc drive.
The biggest use of the veebeam would if you want to use it for Hulu, or Netflix, or a similar service, but the diminished quality unless using their player limits that use.
Perhaps even more limiting is the fact that you really need the computer in the same room as your tv to make use of the device. Considering that with most modern devices you can hook up your computer to your tv via hdmi or some other cabled solution and get better quality, the only use for veebeam would if you have a desktop in the same room as your tv and don't want to bother running long cables everywhere, or you have an older tv or older computer where you can't make the appropriate connection.
Even if you are in one of the above situations I am still doubtful that the veebeam is worth $150. If they could have gotten it down to instant streaming (whether through a powered usb transmitter or some other means) the veebeam's value proposition would be much higher. As it is I see it as being a very specific solution to a very specific problem. It will undoubtably be exactly what some people want, but on the other hand it is not powerful or versatile enough to be applicable to everyone's situation. I think 3 stars reflects this fairly well.
On a side note the veebeam software shutdown windows aero when it was in use - no idea why that would be as my computer is more than powerful enough to run the two at the same time.

I was really exited that this item would backup with just the push of a button but I was quickly disappointed. Setup was slow, confusing and clunky. The backup time took 2 hr's where as Windows Backup only took 10 minutes to backup the same data. There is an option to pay more $ for an upgraded version of the backup software but after seeing how badly this worked I wasn't willing to shell out even more money. I stripped out all the software and now have an overpriced jump drive. SanDisk should be ashamed of the way they are fleecing the consumer with this product. Save the extra $ and just buy a regular flash drive.

(More customer reviews)First of all, i'm an I/T geek and i've used several of these adapters. This one works well but has a couple flaws:
CON's:
1) It comes with no instructions or spec's, which are necessary because of #2 ...
2) This device will not work if you connect it to a laptop running on battery power. I connected this device to my laptop's USB port. All three SATA drives were recognized but failed to be accessed until my I/T "spider-sense" tingled & I connected my laptop's A/C adapter. Now all of the drives are accessible.
Most users are not professional I/T geeks and would not be aware of this- they'd erroneously think the adapter was defective and likely return it.
PRO's:
So, as long as you connect this device to a desktop or laptop on A/C power, it'll work fine. One thing i particularly liked is the SATA power adapter cable is short, sturdy, and is shaped at a right to "idiot proofs" it from naive users who would otherwise yank it straight out by the (fragile) wires and not by the end piece.
I give it 4 stars.

(More customer reviews)I bought the Pylepro PCA3 amy to run off my computer for music. Hooked to a pair of Polk Audio speakers. The system is better than the sound system with the computer. However, when you read the specifications is is only a 15 watt @ 1% distortion which is how typical amplifers are rated. The specification continue that at 10% distortion it can reach 75 watts / channel. ...sure... I do like the product and for the price it is a fair priced item.
